The Southern Clay Trail invites you to explore the world of clay right here in our community. Wander between participating studios, meet local makers, discover their work and get a glimpse into the creative spaces where ideas are shaped into something tangible.

From functional pottery and sculptural forms to unique handmade pieces, every studio has its own story to tell.

Emma from Emma Alsop Art

Emma’s creative journey began as a child when she enjoyed digging up clay at Point Leo Beach during her Summer holidays. The smell and touch gave her a sense of excitement and the freedom to create something beautiful. Exploring ceramics has allowed her to delve into different clay types and glazes, pushing the boundaries of what she can achieve and unlocking new possibilities and techniques. She finds inspiration in the vastness, colours, textures and contrasts of her natural surroundings.
